Online Math Olympiad camp for Tom Matsumoto Elementary School
The COVID-19 pandemic had caused many activities to close down. It impacted our community too, which included my elementary school. With COVID-19, my elementary school was no longer hosting an in-person math program called Math Olympiad. Hearing about it encouraged me to plan a way to continue the program because when I was in elementary school, I had made many memories and had learned a lot from this program. I decided that my mom and I would talk to the principal to see if we could continue the Math Olympiad program online. And the principal said yes! Over 30 kids attended the online classes. I also conducted a six-week Math Olympiad camp over the summer, where I taught advanced math. During this school year, my friends and I teach Math Olympiad online to 50 elementary school students. A small step in helping my elementary school led me to discovering my liking for Math and also my interest in teaching.
